Sara has trained as an integrative counsellor, and is accredited by the BACP. Sara teaches on the BA program as well as the postgraduate Certificate in Integrative counselling.
She completed her Masters in integrative counselling focusing on trauma and how it impacts the body; and is currently taking on supervisees.
She initially trained as an Artist and Designer, finding herself passionate about teaching after delivering Art classes to blind and partially sighted individuals. She went on to complete her PGCE in Design & Technology and taught Art & Design for a number of years. Sara realised that she could access hard to reach young people through creative media and went on to train as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. This led her to do further training in trauma, play therapy and working therapeutically using creative outlets. Sara is passionate about using creative media within talking therapies.
Sara has taken her interest in creative psychotherapies and the role of the community in positive mental health further and has set up a not for profit organisation called ‘Ardour Academy’ comminating creative approaches with psycho-education. Sara is particularly passionate about human rights and the role of the community in addressing issues around racism, sexism and gender pay gap; as well as highlighting the rights of our LGBTQ+ community.
